Kia ora,
My name is Jackie, and I work in the pēpi room. I am highly passionate about teaching in the under-two age group. My teaching philosophy is strongly influenced by the RIE approach (Resources for Infant Educarers), which views pēpi and tamariki as competent and capable individuals from birth. I advocate for providing respect, trust, and opportunities for infants to develop at their own natural pace without pressure, while ensuring they are supported within a safe and nurturing environment.
I have worked in Early Childhood Education for over eight years and am a fully registered kaiako. I have two children: Ollie, who is six years old, and my youngest, Ella, who is one. I first came to Riverglade as a student teacher and reliever in 2022, working across all three rooms, and I gained my Bachelor of Teaching in 2023.
Teaching tamariki is a true passion of mine. I enjoy working alongside children of all ages and have worked in a variety of early childhood centres throughout my career. I am originally from Rotorua and moved to the Hauraki area with my husband, Dillon.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and children, and I have a passion for sewing.
Feel free to approach if you have any questions
Ngā mihi,
Jackie
